snow white
Kiss of white
Erratic in her path
From the heavens,
Alighting a feathers’ touch
So as to leave no
Print on the ground…
She and dozens of her sisters
Visiting the brown expanse
Of a rough hewn apron
To bring a moment’s
Crystalline joy–
A screaming prism
Of color–
Once,
And no more…
Eiderdown
On naked arms
Frozen skyward
In silent prayer
For warmth again,
A coat of many colors
Designed of love…
Softly,
Softly
She kisses the windows
Of the dewy homes,
Leaves her mark
On the glass for
The children to marvel
Frost-hewn breath pictures.
She loves,
But cannot embrace,
For her heart is hard
Beneath her firs…
She sleeps still,
This mother of dawn
