well…it’s done
moving day–ugh.
i should just stop right there, cuz that’s pretty self explanatory–but i can’t leave it alone. our family moved last week from fruitport to ferrysburg/spring lake. we’re in a new place just off the beach and it’s pretty cool–
but ugh. 12 moving guys later, all our stuff is in–our old place was on the second floor–so up and down the stairs pulling the little crapulence out all week…and on moving day, it was up and down the stairs with the HEAVY stuff…a coupla guys helping out were big enough to just carry the place on their backs…but we didn’t want to risk getting sweat stains on the underside of the heavy stuff when it crushed them flat.
the new place–also has a downstairs–so our core team of 4 spent all week moving clothes and crapulence up and down the stairs in both places…and moving day–we moved a washer and dryer down the stairs…paul and warren slid the washer down the stairs–a ‘controlled fall’–on purpose (really!)…while natalie and i waited behind them, carrying the dryer. an impressive feat…considering.
she and i also muscled in a bookcase (with warren’s help)–and a futon (without warren’s help)–and multiple boxes of something that rattled…
aside from a couple of juggled glass boxes, we only broke one lid (hey morgan! wanna play catch?!) which shattered on, what we discovered was, a tile floor (not linoleum). lost lots of things in transit–the dvd remote, natalie’s makeup box, matthew’s left shoe, keys, tools, poster hangers, and other assortments of things…but all in all, the big stuff made it, the people made it (all 4 of us, much to lenny’s sadness), and leonard ‘C’ (cowardly) skinner, the cat.
today, we’re tired. pooped. flat broke. pooped. and did i mention, tired? no? oh good. we’re tired. sleeping well in the now-assembled beds that we’ve found all the hardware for……ZZZZzzzzz.
