my boy makes me smile
boyo has had a nasty sore throat the last couple days. on sunday, it was accompanied by a persistent fever, so he slept most of the afternoon, cuddling in my arms.
don’t get me wrong. i LOVE cuddling boyo. but when boyo is quietly still enough to cuddle, it means he feels terrible. i’d rather have him bouncing off the walls as compared to leaning against me cuz i know he feels so awful. he also slept…all afternoon and voluntarily went to bed and stayed asleep all night.
when i went to check on him at 7 am, monday, he was still out. his glands were swollen big enough for me to see without feeling for them, and his throat was absolutely raw. he was out cold…gone enough that i could open his mouth and peek in without ever waking him up.
i held him for a while and prayed over him, prayed for him and just loved on him…and eventually, i fell asleep.
upon waking at 8:30 in the morning, boyo looked at me and smiled real big. he croaked ‘good morning!’ then put his index finger up and said ‘wait right there!’ and sprinted for the kitchen.
sprint–that’s a good thing. i figured he was on the mend. i heard much enthusiastic banging and splashing in the kitchen, too.
course 1: lemon yogurt and spoon. he requested i stay in place and refrain from consuming course 1 until course 2 had arrived.
course 2: whole wheat toast and marmalade. on a napkin. cool!
course 3: coffee with milk. i asked him where he got the milk (as the gallon was full), and he said it came from the glass i had poured for him the morning before…ah well. the heat will kill the germs, right?
i ate my breakfast and we chatted. i am feeling all blessed cuz my intent was to make him some soft pancakes for breakfast. and here he is, feeling icky (still had a fever), but with a big smile, he wanted to serve me breakfast…good li’l doobie reigns!
