goin’ to camp
i’m a little lost this morning.
i dropped boyo off at church for a week of camp at Lake Ann Baptist Camp–he’s going with our church group, and was bouncing-off-the-wall excited this morning.
it was a direct contrast to last year where he was BEGGING me not to send him. much irony there.
this year, we were among the first to arrive at the church (as opposed to last year where i was the last one), and this year, boyo was extremely helpful to all the new arrivals. without being asked, he hopped in the van with another kid and started loading the luggage.
they managed a pretty good packing job, too. then he hopped out, came over and just held my hand. ever since he was a toddler, we have shared this secret hand signal that says ‘i love you’. he was telling me that as we stood waiting for the other arrivals.
i watched him with his friends from church. i watched him load luggage. i watched him be respectful to our pastor.
i’m watching him grow up.
